Bugle & Ledger

Annual Financial Report catch-up and monthly books for fire districts.

Behind on your AFR? We'll get you caught up — your treasurer stays in charge.

150+
New York fire districts listed as not having filed their 2025 Annual Financial Report.
The problem

Behind is common. Staying behind is the risk.

The Office of the State Comptroller's filing-status page lists over 150 New York fire districts as not having filed their 2025 Annual Financial Report, due about March 1, 2026.

Most are run by volunteers keeping the books on top of everything else.

Being behind isn't unusual; staying behind is what draws attention.

What we do

Get caught up. Then stay current.

Two services, each at a flat, published price.

Catch-up

AFR catch-up

$2,500 flat per report year
  1. Organize your bank statements, claims and minutes for the year.
  2. Reconcile the accounts and build the figures the AFR asks for.
  3. Prepare the report and a short checklist so your treasurer can review it and file it through OSC Online Services.

More than one year behind? We quote the full catch-up up front, with no surprises.

Stay current

Monthly books

$300 a month
  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • A treasurer's report ready for each board meeting
  • Claims abstract support
  • Next year's AFR prepared each February, before it's due
How we work

We do the legwork. Your treasurer stays in charge.

Your treasurer files

Your treasurer stays in charge and does the filing; we do the legwork behind them. We never act as your treasurer.

Billed like any other bill

Billed by invoice, through your normal claims audit and board approval like any other bill.

Your records stay yours

Your records stay yours; we work from copies you provide.

We're bookkeepers, not auditors. Your independent audit stays with your CPA.

Who we serve
